Review: ‘sopure’ cleaning products

So… sopure is in the spotlight today. As some of you might know, I am becoming an environmental warrior. I am trying my best to become one within my own home. I am on a path to ‘little by little’ eliminate the toxic, harmful products that I was using previously, by replacing them with environmentally safe ones. This is not an ultra-quick conversion because the more you change, the more you see needs changing – but it’s worth every effort. Each minor change alters the look of the larger picture – and its cleaner, and safer, and defiantly a happier place!

I have been trying the ‘sopure’ products in my home. This brand claims to be environmentally friendly. Their labels have a cute saying on them – free from nasties. They also have just about everything you need to clean your house. The ones I use are – laundry detergent, laundry softener, kitchen surface cleaner, bathroom surface cleaner, toilet disinfectant gel, floor cleaner, dishwashing liquid and fruit & veg disinfectant spray. I have been using these for well over two months and I am ecstatically happy with them. They work!!! Thank goodness!!

So why convert from the age-old conventional household cleaning products to what we call ‘green products’? It is certainly more than recycling nowadays. Its about safety for you and your loved ones, and it is about protection of the earth. Why would we ignore this now that we know better? And anyone with children, considering the future of their kids, simply have to make the change. We can’t leave it to our kids to clean up our mess – we are already doing this for our very messy parents – and it’s a heavy job. Let’s not make it worse.

Have you read the labels on ordinary large company household products? One example is from the back of the Toilet Duck bottle. It clearly says: Precautions: DANGER (in capital letters). Corrosive. Causes irreversible eye damage. Do not get in your eyes. Use suitable eye protection. In case of emergency call: Poison Control Centre: 0861…

Really! Do you wear protective goggles when you clean your toilet? I don’t and I don’t want to – ever!

So – using ‘Green Products’ you get these benefits:

  • You feel better when using them – because you know you are making an effort and no longer deliberately harming yourself, your loved ones and the environment. You know you are no longer potentially working with, and spreading harmful hazardous chemicals that are carcinogens, neurotoxins, or endocrine disrupters etc… all over the surface of your home. So, a win right!?
  • Children and pets – due to their size – are far more susceptible to exposure from harmful chemicals found in ‘house-hold name brands’. And we love our little ones and furry kids, right? So again – converting to healthier products is again a win.
  • Most conventional cleaning products contain ingredients that are toxic, hazardous, non-biodegradable and have non-renewable resources like petroleum – so they do not help the environment at all – in fact they adversely affect earths eco-systems. Do we want our kids children of the future to enjoy nature in abundance? Or do we want to make it difficult to find un-harmed pockets in the future because we have messed up what we have now?
  • Authentic ‘green products’ are found in plastic containers with a grade 1 or 2 PET – this means that they are recyclable. Ideally it would be nice to get completely away from plastic. In fact, I pray this day comes sooner than later – and not at further cost to the earth. However, until then, make sure you only buy plastic containers that have the recycle grade 1 stamp on them.
  • You can become a Green Role Model – join the beautiful force of the Environmental Warriors out there. How cool is that? Your everyday move is making a difference, and when you see how easy it is, you will automatically inform others. They then follow your example – and eventually the one has become many. Score!!!

But back to the product I am reviewing. Sopure. They are beautiful, they work, and these products make my home smell lovely. As they state – they are free from nasties and full of nature. Here are some pics of their labels.

I found these products at two places so far; I am sure there are many more places that sell them, but I get them from Dischem in South Africa and from an online shop I love called Faithful to Nature. At Faithful to Nature, you can order 5 litre bottles to refill your smaller more convenient spray or squirt bottles (www.faithfultonature.co.za). Oh yes – I must also mention that even though plastic, their bottles are good quality. Don’t you hate it when the spray bottle stops working well halfway though. With these sopure products I have manged to refill my original bottles several times over – and they are still working perfectly. Whew!

If you would like to try these out, you can also get them diresctly from the Sopure online shop:

There you have it – my happy ‘environmentally friendly’ review on the sopure household cleaning products. Don’t take my word for it – just go out -buy one – and you will see for yourself. I know you will be just as happy as I am with this find.
